The American National Bank at 2202 Hunter Road was robbed at 7 a.m. today. Police are conducting a search for the perpetrator.
“Details at this point are sketchy,” said city communications director Melissa Millecam. “I talked to [Police] Commander Nichols and the police are combing the area.”
Millecam went on to say that police believe the suspect has left the area but the San Marcos Police Department had no further information to offer at this time.
Newstreamz spoke with SMPD Commander Terry Nichols this afternoon regarding the investigation.
“We had one male subject approach the opening manager at gunpoint,” said Nichols. “The suspect forced him into the bank, took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled. This happened around 6:50-7 a.m.”
No images of the suspect have been released as he was wearing a mask at the time. More information will become available as it develops.
