San Marcos Police are investigating the stabbing of a 23-year old Austin man early Tuesday at a local apartment complex, sending the victim to an Austin hospital. Police were called to the Villagio Apartments, 1850 Aquarena Springs Drive, about 12:28 a.m. Tuesday where they found the victim, a 23-year old Austin man, in the complex parking lot with serious, but non-life threatening stab wounds.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his mid 20’s, bald-headed and clean-shaven, wearing a khaki colored hooded jacket and blue jeans.
The victim reported that he and his girlfriend were walking their dogs when an unknown male subject began verbally assaulting them in the parking lot.
The victim instructed his girlfriend to go inside and call the police. The suspect allegedly approached the victim and began fighting. During the assault, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim before fleeing on foot.
During the verbal altercation prior to the stabbing, witnesses overheard the suspect making a statement to the effect that his sister had just died. After stabbing the victim, the suspect apologized before running away. He was last seen running through the apartment complex and onto Davis Road near River Road.
A neighbor who witnessed the assault chased the suspect and eventually lost sight of him before police arrived.
The victim was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge-Seton Hospital where he was being treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Anyone with information on this investigation is encouraged to call the San Marcos Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 512-753-2300 or Hays County Crime Stoppers at 512-353-TIPS.
