Hays County Law Enforcement Association endorses Capt. Bo Kidd for Sheriff

The Hays County Law Enforcement Association would like to announce their support for Capt. Bo Kidd of the Hays County Sheriff’s Department to fill the vacancy of Hays County Sheriff due to the tragic death of Sheriff Allen Bridges.

Employees overwhelmingly want the appointment to come from within the ranks of the Sheriff’s Department and while there are other very qualified candidates to fill the vacancy, Capt. Bo Kidd is the candidate with the best qualifications for bringing long term stability to the Hays County Sheriff’s Department in the years to come.

Our hope is the Commissioners will appoint someone committed to wanting to seek the office in two years and beyond, and that person is willing to listen to the public and employees of the Sheriff’s Department in order to make this the best law enforcement agency in the state.

We believe Capt. Bo Kidd is the person who best fills the needs of the department in the future and would be the kind of person the public would want as the Hays County Sheriff.

Feel free to contact us with any other questions.

  1. Lets be fair here. The HCLEA does not speak for the Hays County Sheriff’s Department but for a select group inside the department. To say that the “Employees overwhelmingly” want Bo Kidd as the next sheriff is a false statement. Some within the agency do want Mr. Kidd but not for the better of the department but for personal gain. Others want Sherman Brodbeck and others want former Texas Ranger Tommy Ratliff. So lets not push that Bo Kidd is the choice of the entire department because he is not.

  2. In response to, “Some within the agency do want Mr. Kidd but not for the better of the department but for personal gain.”

Whoever this is I had to giggle when you mention personal gain. Simply put there is personal gain or loss for some no matter who is appointed as sheriff so don’t kid yourself or try to come off above the frey.

Bo Kidd is the best choice for a lot of really good reasons. Those who aren’t happy with Bo Kidd as sheriff could very well be those who aren’t comfortable with a proactive, modern policing agency. Instead it could very well be those who would rather the sheriff’s office remain a bone yard for ROAD (Retired on Active Duty) deputies.

Bo Kidd has that experience, youth and vibrance to make the sheriff’s office one, if not the most professional law enforcement agencies in this state. Wake up, I mean really, wake up.
