Hays CISD Channel: School district announces December testing schedule

From Hays CISD

Students in Hays CISD will be dismissed for the Christmas break at the end of the day Friday, Dec. 19. They will return for the start of the fourth six-week term on Jan. 6. Staff returns for a staff development day on Monday, Jan. 5.

High school students will have a modified schedule for finals next Wednesday through Friday leading up to the break. High school students will have early release on Thursday and Friday because they will be on a final exam schedule.

Semester exam grades at all Hays CISD middle schools will now count as one-seventh of a student’s semester average.  Because of the added emphasis on the exam, the middle schools will alter their schedules to allow extended time for testing. This will result in the middle schools releasing students at 1:30 on Thursday, Dec. 18 and Friday, Dec. 19.

The Spring semester is the time that Hays CISD tests elementary students who have been nominated for placement in the gifted and talented program, Alpha-H.

If you feel that your child works above grade level in academic work, has outstanding creative skills and could benefit from a challenging program, please discuss the program with your child’s classroom teacher.

This school year’s nominations will be accepted until Jan. 23, 2009. Please understand that if your child is nominated and tested, the process will probably not be completed until the end of the school year.
