From Central Texas Medical Center
Central Texas Medical Center will hold a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23, on the first floor in the hospital’s main classroom.
In spirit of the holiday season, each blood donor will be thanked with a free pint of Amy’s Ice Cream.
The Blood Center experiences a drop in blood donations during the holidays as people busy themselves with shopping and travel. Blood donations are an essential part of providing health care to the community. In order to maintain a blood supply that will support the surrounding area, 55,000 units of blood must be donated quarterly. An individual donation can save the lives of two other people.
“Our motto is ‘life is in your hands,’” said Lisa Moore, CTMC Lab Supervisor. “We want to remind donors that by donating blood they are saving lives every day, right here in Central Texas.”
You may find the link to sign up before the event or answers to any questions you may have about donating blood, at www.inyourhands.org. When you sign up, enter CTMC as the sponsor code and remember to bring your photo I.D. and Social Security number.
