The Texas State volleyball team fell from the NCAA Tournament in the first round last Friday night, exiting with a 5-2 loss to Texas A&M at College Station.
Texas A&M took control of the game early, scoring twice in the first 14 minutes and notching a shot advantage of 9-1 in the first half. By the 72nd minute, the Aggies held a 4-0 lead.
Texas A&M kept the attack going, taking 25 shots during the game, 13 of which went on goal.
“Hats off to Texas A&M and the game they played tonight,” Texas State coach Kat Conner said. “They put in two quick goals and were ready to play … This is an outstanding program and I think our team played very well in this game.
Freshman Erica Michaud scored the two Texas State goals, in the 79th and 88th minutes. Michaud finished her freshman season with seven goals.
“The team never gave up,” Michaud said.
The goals were the first Texas State has ever scored in the NCAA Tournament.
The Bobcats finished the year 13-4-4 overall after going undefeated during the Southland Conference season.
