There is still time to register for the 6th annual Thankful Turkey 5K Run/Walk. This fun and appetizing event presented by the Bluebonnet Lions Club is one of their largest fundraisers supporting charitable causes in the local community. The run/walk is scheduled for Saturday November 22 at 8 a.m. sharp.
Race day registration starts at 7 a.m. at River Ridge Park located at IH35 and River Ridge Parkway just north of Aquarena Springs Drive. The race route is flat, fast and traffic free winding through the business park where Grande Communications and Butler Manufacturing is located. Pre-registration is available on-line at www.signmeup.com/62502 until Nov 16 with a discounted fee of $15. Race entry fee increases to $20 after this date through race day. Current Texas State University students with ID receive a $3.00 discount. All pre-registered participants will receive a Thankful Turkey 5K T-shirt and goody bags. Race day shirts will be available as long as quantities last.
Divisions available include ages 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over, and a wheelchair division. The unique awards attract participants who compete to bring home their Thanksgiving dinner. The top 3 male and female finishers in each age division and the male and female wheelchair winners will receive the following awards: 1st place a turkey, 2nd place a ham, 3rd place a pie. The overall male and female winners and the male and female masters winners will receive a turkey and a trophy.
Race Director David Alexander along with the San Marcos Runners Club will be officiating the run/walk. “We are so fortunate to have David and SMRC providing the expertise in putting on this kind of event.” Bluebonnet Lions Club Event Organizer Judy Aswell said. “This kind of support makes it possible to have a successful fundraiser in the community.”

The Bluebonnet Lions Club is a nonprofit community service organization that has been serving the San Marcos community for 24 years.
