In the Health channel: Medical Center helps diabetics eat right

From Central Texas Medical Center

Central Texas Medical Center ’s dietitians will host a cooking class demonstration for diabetes-healthy, holiday-themed meals on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m.  Also, Irma Grouchy, CTMC RN and Diabetes Educator, will share healthy tips for eating right with diabetes.

According to the American Diabetes Association, self-management education or training is a key step in improving health outcomes and quality of life. It focuses on self-care behaviors, such as healthy eating, being active, and monitoring blood sugar. It is a collaborative process in which diabetes educators help people with or at risk for diabetes gain the knowledge and problem-solving and coping skills needed to successfully self-manage the disease and its related conditions.
