SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State volleyball senior Emily Jones Wilkes was named to the ESPN The Magazine All-District 6 first team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) today, and will be included on the national Academic All-America ballot. Last year Jones Wilkes received All-District 6 second team honors.
Jones Wilkes is a senior middle blocker for Texas State. After finishing her undergrad in three years earning a bachelor’s in mathematics, summa cum laude, she is now pursuing a master’s degree in Business Administration.
During her undergrad Jones Wilkes was named to the Dean’s list every semester. She was also an Oak Farms Dairy Academic Award Winner from 2005-08. With a perfect 4.0 grade point average she was a Cream of the Crop winner from 2006-08. She was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll from 2005-07 and earned First team Capital One/Southland Conference Volleyball All-Academic team honors in 2007-08.
Jones Wilkes is leading her team to an 18-12, 11-1 SLC record. The Bobcats are currently on a 10-game conference win streak. She is currently leading the team in blocks with 73, is third on the team in kills with 210 and has the second best hitting percentage with .341.
The Bobcats travel to Beaumont, Texas tomorrow to take on the Lamar Cardinals at 7:00pm CT.
