From the San Marcos school district
San Marcos CISD received a total of twelve Gold Performance Acknowledgements (GPAs) in updated state accountability reports released by the Texas Education Agency, double the number of GPAs received by the district in 2007.
San Marcos CISD received 1 GPA as a district, Bowie Elementary received 2 GPAs, DeZavala Elementary received 1 GPA, Hernandez Intermediate received 2 GPAs, Goodnight Junior High received 3 GPAs, Miller Junior High received 1 GPA, and San Marcos High School received 2 GPAs.
Of the GPAs received by the district, seven were for Commended Performance on TAKS, meaning that at least 25 percent of student in every subgroup earned a Commended scores on a TAKS test that they took in the spring of 2008. Two GPAs recognized the district’s percentage of graduates graduating under the recommended high school plan in 2007 to be 80 percent or higher, and three were for comparable improvement, meaning that the campus outperformed at least 75 percent of the other schools in Texas who are demographically most similar to that campus. The Comparable Improvement
GPA is notable because it represents that this school is among the most academically improved campuses in its class in the entire state.
“Working together we are making great progress in the highest performance measures in the state accountability system,” Superintendent Dr. Patty Shafer said.
Campuses receiving Gold Performance Acknowledgements will be recognized at the SMCISD School Board meeting on November 17.
