5th Annual Texas Author Day at SMPL

The San Marcos Public Library will host over 30 Texas authors and illustrators at the 5th annual Texas Author Day on Sunday, November 9 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. These published writers and illustrators will be on hand to sign copies of their books and chat with fans. A variety of genres will be represented including local history, Texana, mystery, horror, memoirs, children’s literature, poetry, history, and fiction.

Visiting authors and illustrators include Sarah Bird, Mary S. Black & Bruce Jordan, Don Blevins, Joyce G. Bradshaw, Diana Castilleja, Xavier Garza, Ron George, Lila Guzmán, Veronique Zehnder Hahn, Martha Hannah, Larry Dowell, Rolando Hinojosa-Smith, Frances Hunter, Bowie V. Ibarra, H. Joaquin Jackson, Allan C. Kimball, Jim & Jerry Kimmel, J.A. LeVitt, David Liss, James A. Mangum & Sidney Spires, Laurie Martin, Joann Odenwelder, Jeanette N. Passty, Paul Pullen, Sterling Rogers, Debbie Roppolo, Ruben Ruiz, Andrew Sansom, Janice & Tom Shefelman, Gary Layne Smith, Billy Taylor, June Venable, Bert M. Wall, Nancy Daniel Wesson, and Ken Woodard.

Several authors are scheduled to either read from their work or talk about their book. Scheduled at 2:15 p.m. is Martha Hannah, author of The Ghost of Hampton Court, a children’s picture book illustrated by her husband, Larry Dowell. David Liss, author of several historical suspense novels including The Whiskey Rebels, will speak at 3:00 p.m. H. Joaquin Jackson, former Texas Ranger and author of two memoirs, One Ranger and One Ranger Returns, speaks at 3:45 p.m. Appearing at 4:30 p.m. is Sarah Bird, author of a number of humorous novels set in Austin, Texas, the latest being How Perfect Is That.

Books will be available for purchase at the library. Autographed books make wonderful holiday gifts for booklovers of all ages. Everyone is welcome to attend this free annual event.
