Hays County Mounted Patrol Association gives awards to young riders

On Saturday, October 11, 2008, the Hays County Mounted Patrol Association concluded it’s “2008 Saddle and Buckle Series” horse show and playdays. Hays County Sheriff Allen Bridges presented saddles to the first place finishers, belt buckles to the second place finishers, and jackets to the third place finishers in age groups 9 to 13, 14 to 19, and 20 and over. Belt buckles were presented to winners in the 8 and under category and lead line contestants.

The following individuals won in their respective age categories:

In the Judged Events, Priscilla Ruiz won in Leadline, Lauren Elliot won in 8 and under, Pancho Ayers was first and Hayley Davison was second in ages 9 to 13, Joy Norris was first and Zan Davison was second in ages 14 to 19, and Leslie Kramer was first, Tom Ayers was second and Carie Walker was third in ages 20 and over.

In Speed Events, Wesley Brittian was first and Hunter Leinneweber was second in leadline, Cassandra Twining was first, Jacob Lee was second, and Olivia Twining was third in eight and under,
Hugh McCallick was first, Anna Weinheimer was second and Kelsi Lee was third in ages 9 to 13, Lexus Weinheimer was first, Courtney Twining was second, and Chelsea Payne was third in ages 14 to 19, and Kortney Kay Williams was first, Frances Buckholz was second, and Laura Strausber was third in ages 20 and over.

Sheriff Bridges congratulated all participants for their hard work and thanked parents for their involvement in their children’s lives.
