Texas State’s women’s soccer team improved its record to 4-3-2 Sunday afternoon with a 2-1 double overtime win against Houston Baptist at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
Britney Curry scored both goals for Texas State, which will begin play in the Southland Conference this weekend.
The Bobcats controlled the pace of this game with a 26-9 shot advantage, including 17 shots on goal, compared to five for Houston Baptist. However, Houston Baptist made the most of its opportunities, taking the lead with a goal by Kristina Burhans in the 43rd minute.
Curry scored her first goal ten minutes into the second half. Though the Bobcats maintained the offensive pressure, they couldn’t score again until Curry repeated her performance in the second overtime.
Mandi Mawyer started the game in goal for Texas State and made one save on two shots. Deborah Ross entered at halftime and saved all three shots taken on her goal.
The Bobcats will play at McNeese State Friday, then at Lamar on Sunday.Email | Print
