The Texas State volleyball team will head into Austin Thursday with hopes of improving on its 4-5 record and avenging its NCAA Tournament elimination loss to Texas from last year.
The Bobcats will open their appearance at the Time Warner Invitational at the University of Texas with a match against Texas at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The Longhorns, ranked third in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, knocked Texas State out of the NCAA Tournament last year with a 30-21, 30-20, 30-13 victory. It will be the seventh meeting in ten years between Texas and Texas State.
Texas State will face Georgia for the third time ever Friday at 10 a.m. They last met in 2006, when Georgia won in three sets. The Bobcats will complete their errands in Austin at 4:30 p.m. Friday against Houston. The Bobcats and Houston have met 29 times, with Texas State winning (30-25, 30-27, 21-30, 30-23) last year at Strahan Coliseum.
Outside hitter Jessica Weynand leads the Bobcats in kills with 89 and digs with 49. Brittany Collins leads the Bobcats with 167 assists.
The Bobcats went to College Station Tuesday night, when they lost to Texas A&M in three sets. Texas A&M won the first two sets easily, 25-14 and 25-13. The Bobcats put up a fight in the third before falling, 25-23.Email | Print
