JV Purple claims 40-0 win over Bastrop

The Junior Varsity whips the Bears 40-0 on the road from start to finish.The team’s offensive highlights were led by Kerry Smith’s two touchdowns, he scored the first touchdown of the game on a 60-yard sweep, and this was his first game of the season due to injuries. The opening drive went 98 yards for the Rattlers. Manuel Saldana also had two touchdowns of his own, he ran for the tough yards between the tackles and he scored on the first drive of the second half to seal the deal for the Rattlers. Brian Martinez added the 2-point conversion on a 3yd dive. Isaiah Fiegel also added a two-point conversion in the victory.

The Defensive Highlights started on the opening series as Matt Campos had a 10-yard sack to stone the Bears offensive momentum. Campos also had another sack that resulted in a Bastrop safety. Dorian Perez had a 17-yard interception return for a touchdown. The team also was led by the sacks of defensive leaders Kash Seward and Jonathan Rivera.

Offensive Line standout was the line play of Wood Updegrove at Quick Tackle.

Coach Aaron Postert said, “The JV did a great job coming out and dominated from the opening kickoff. Kids played with tremendous tenacity and true Rattler Pride. We are very proud of there accomplishments so far this season and look forward to keeping the momentum at 7:30 next Thursday Night against Lampasas at home.
