City to begin drainage improvements in Castle Forest Subdivision

The San Marcos City Council has awarded a $71,485.26 contract to BPI Environmental Services Inc. of Lakeway, Texas for the construction of the Castle Forest Drainage Improvement Project.

The project will control erosion and stabilize the sides of the large stormwater drainage channel in the Castle Forest Subdivision in a drainage easement between Nevada Street and Lisa Lane.

Gabion walls, rock-filled cages used for erosion control, will be installed in areas that receive high stormwater flows.

The project will also install new headwalls at various locations that drain into the channel and provide erosion stabilization at the intersection of Castle Creek Drive and the channel.

Construction is expected to begin October 2008 and conclude in January 2009.

For more information about the project, please contact the City’s Engineering Department at 393-8130.
