San Marcos is more than beautiful rivers, education, and good neighbors. It is also the businesses that make up the economy of our city. These businesses are owned and/or operated by our neighbors and often overlooked in the mainstream media.

Business Spotlight – Current Electric

“A small contractor with a big contractor’s attitude”-this is the way General Manager Glyn Landrum describes Current Electric Incorporated, a business he and his wife, Pam, started in San Marcos on March 1, 1986.

He explains that the company is big because of the way they treat their employees. Unlike most contractors of CE’s size, the pay is so good-as are the insurance, holiday, vacation and other perks-that employees have been with them for 20 years. Landrum speaks with admiration of Terry, Clay, Jim, Mark and Bill.

He also expresses a big vision for the company. He speaks of “the strategic location” of San Marcos, between San Antonio and Austin. He says, “San Marcos is the hub of south central Texas. We’re able to service a 45 mile radius easier from San Marcos than from anywhere else in this part of the state.”

He also likes his location relative to other locations in San Marcos. “We’re 2 blocks from Highway 123 and a short drive from I-35, where it’s easy to drive to meet customer’s needs to the north and south,” he states.

CE’s Newstreamz.com ad reads, “Electrical repair jobs big and small”. “Electrical contracting, service and repair,” is the official description. Other specific services include free estimates and a service offered nowhere else in the area that we are aware of, the repair of fine lamps.
