Texas State volleyball team begins fall workouts Tuesday, August 12

The defending Southland Conference Tournament Championship Texas State volleyball team will open its 2008 Fall Camp on Tuesday August 12 inside Strahan Coliseum. The Bobcats will have three practice sessions each day through Friday August 15. The morning session will be from 8:30-11:30 a.m. The afternoon session will be 2-4:30 p.m. each day, while evening sessions will be 7-9:00 p.m.

The Volleyball team will host its annual Meet the `Cats event on Thursday, Aug. 21, at 6:30 p.m. in Strahan Coliseum, giving fans the opportunity to meet the 2008 volleyball team and watch the Bobcats practice for the upcoming season. The event is open to the public and scheduled to last until 8:30. Admission is free, and pizza and refreshments will also be served.

Fans can come and watch the `Cats go through a quick practice and small scrimmage, after which the players and coaches will be available for fans to meet and sign autographs.

Texas State opens its 2008 season with its annual CenturyTel Premier tournament August 29-30 that features NCAA Regional participant Sacramento State, Miami, UTPA and Louisiana-Monroe. After the tournament, Texas State will host Baylor on September 2.

The team will play four Big 12 teams and some of the top talent from the West Coast among its nonconference slate of matches. Last season, the Bobcats finished 21-12 and made their sixth NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the SLC Tournament.
