Filing is underway in the upcoming city election which will see the mayor and at least two city council seats up for grabs. Mayor Susan Narvaiz’s campaign put out this statement late yesterday:
“Filing for San Marcos city elections for this November 4th General Election got underway bright and early this morning. The first official day to begin filing was July 27th but with city hall closed on the weekend, Monday July 28th was the first regular business day for candidates interested in the upcoming city elections to make their intentions known.
“Mayor Susan Narvaiz, surrounded by several friends and supporters filed both paperwork to seek re-election to the office of mayor and the Code of Fair Campaign Practices forms. Although not mandatory, a candidate may pledge to conduct his or her campaign in accordance with the principles and practices set out in the Code by signing the form and filing with the appropriate authority. Filing for city elections continues through August 26th
“Mayor Narvaiz held a campaign kick-off on July 9th where she and more than 150 friends and supporters gathered to continue their commitment of service to San Marcos and to pledge on-going support of the work that Mayor Susan is doing as the head of San Marcos city government. Seeking her third term of office, Narvaiz is the longest tenured seated council member since taking her first oath of office in June of 2002 to the Place 3 council seat.
