Twenty students will arrive in San Marcos from Asia, France, and the Czech Republic on Thursday, July 24, 2008, and fourteen still do not have a place to reside upon arrival. ASSE International, a non-profit cultural exchange organization, needs local community members to host these male and female high school students during their four-week stay. These students must be placed with a family by this Friday, July 18. The student’s travel schedules are set and cannot be cancelled, reversed, or refunded. They will arrive and without your help they will be without a home.If you are interested in helping to make a difference in these students’ lives please contact me immediately via phone or email and read below for more information.
The host family will provide room and board, a caring environment for the student, and incorporate the international student into the daily routine of their work and family life, as well as a willingness to learn about a new culture. Families with or without children can host a student.
Each ASSE student is fully insured, brings his or her own personal spending money and expects to bear his or her share of household responsibilities, as well as being included in normal family activities and lifestyles. These students are 15 to 18 years of age, conversant in English and eager to learn about this country through living as part of a family.
In only four weeks host families and international exchange students can create lasting memories and build a priceless relationship that will impact in the lives of the international students, American host families, and local communities forever.
The students are screened and qualified by ASSE. Students and families are encouraged to begin corresponding prior to the student’s arrival.
