Police seek tips in abuse case

The San Marcos Police Department is investigating the sexual abuse of a nine year-old child.

The girl was sexually molested after a burglar entered the home through an improperly working door and held her at gun point.

Police Commander Terry Nichols said a parent and a sibling were present at the time of the incident, but did not wake up as the crime took place early Saturday morning. The victim did not sustain life-threatening injuries and was treated at the hospital and released the same day.

In a press conference Monday, Nichols said the suspect is an unidentified male still at large and considered armed and dangerous, he was last seen walking down Knox Street.

“This is very uncommon for San Marcos, this type of crime, I can’t think of a time this has ever happened,” said Nichols.
Nichols said the Police Department is taking this case very serious and is asking the citizens for help with any information that could lead to the suspects arrest.

“Best we can tell at this time is what a nine year-old victim is telling us,” said Nichols. “We are looking for any tips we might be able to get from the community.”

For any information or possible leads regarding this case the Police Department asks that you call their 24-hour hotline at (512) 753-2108.
