Members of the Economic Development San Marcos Board were flying high recently during their annual board retreat — this year located at the San Marcos Regional Airport. Berry Aviation, Inc., and the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) hosted a “ground” show for all, conducting a full tour of the newly remodeled Airport Terminal Fixed Base Operation (FBO) and all the aviation-related businesses. Attendees were treated to close-ups of World War II planes housed and maintained at the airport by the CAF, and a video that explained the history of the organization and its purpose.”It is not surprising that the board selected the San Marcos Regional Airport as their primary project for the year after learning about this great asset for our city,” said Amy Madison, Economic Development Director. “They are all looking forward to working in collaboration with the Airport Commission and other entities to enhance opportunities for economic development.”
The strategic planning session was facilitated by economic development experts, Mike Tolleson and Bob Springer, of the Lower Colorado River Authority. The plan will be reviewed and adopted at the EDSM board meeting on July 17.
