Hundreds of San Marcos residents showed up at San Marcos Plaza to celebrate our nation’s 232nd birthday at Summerfest 2008 o July 4th.The Crabby Grass Boys, David Ybarra & the LA Blues Band, Jumpstart & Trio-Faze provided the entertainment, along with a fireworks show at 9:30. Ted & Francis Breihan were also recognized for their community service by the mayor during the festivities. The Breihans have been involved in Summerfest since its inception in 1980 and were named as “Honorary Summerfest Chairmen”

According to the city Summerfest, “…is made possible by a partnership between the City of San Marcos, the San Marcos Noon Lions Club and a host of corporations, organizations and individuals. In addition to the Lions Club, major sponsors include Time Warner Cable, San Marcos Convention and Visitor Bureau, Frost Bank, Allied Waste, Tanger Outlet Center, Goodrich Industries, Pecan Park Campground and Prime Outlets-San Marcos.”

Summerfest was recently moved from Sewell Park to San Marcos Plaza for issues of convenience and space.
