Honorary Chairmen – Long time community volunteers Francis and Ted Breihan received special recognition for their many years of community service by San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz during the July 4, 2008 Summerfest Patriotic Program at San Marcos Plaza Park. The surprised Breihans listen as Mayor Narvaiz reads a proclamation. Summerefest 2008 co-chairs Rebecca Ybarra-Ramirez and Lisa Morris stand by with a special gift basket from the City of San Marcos. The Breihans have been involved with Summerfest since the first one in 1980.

Officials cheering on the Breihans’ designation as Honorary Summerfest Chairmen were, pictured left to right, City Councilwoman Pam Couch, the Breihans, Hays County Commissioner Will Conley, Mayor Narvaiz, City Councilmen Daniel Guerrera and Gaylord Bose and 2008 Summerfest Co-Chairs Rebecca Ybarra-Ramirez, director of the San Marcos Convention and Visitor Bureau, and San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department staffer Lisa Morris.
