STAFF REPORT
A local church averted tragedy on Monday when a van full of teenagers returning from a trip blew a tire and rolled over.
Calvary Baptist Church’s 15-passenger van was carrying a dozen passengers when the accident occurred on Interstate 37 near Pleasanton, officials said. Three young church members were treated at a local hospital for relatively minor injuries including contusions and a broken leg.
The group was returning from the Student Life Camp at South Padre Island. A second bus following the first was not involved in the accident, officials said.
Westover Baptist Church recently modified their vans with a kit that turns the Ford van into a dually. It might have saved the situation in a rear-tire blowout which I understand cause this wreck.
