Trash collection changing to once-a-week on July 7

From the city of San Marcos

Texas Disposal Systems will start a once-a-week trash collection schedule in San Marcos the week of July 7 with collection days changing for most residential customers.

TDS will expand its routes from three to five zones to provide once a week trash and recycling collection Monday through Friday.

Customers whose trash does not fit in the 95-gallon cart provided by TDS may put trash in bags beside the cart (not on top) or bagged in a personal container. Customers may also request an extra TDS cart for an additional $5 per month or purchase a second container for $95. To request an extra cart, please call Public Works at 393-8026.

The trash cart and recycling bin should be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on the collection day and returned to the house by 9 p.m. Recycling will be picked up the same day as trash.

TDS will continue to provide free bulky waste pick up (furniture, appliances, yard waste) for residential customers on the collection day during the first and third weeks of the month. A pick up may be scheduled by calling 393-8026 by 2 p.m. the previous business day.

In a new service, San Marcos customers may take up to five cubic yards of yard waste each month to TDS Landfill, (3606 FM 1327 Buda, TX 78610) at no charge. The customer’s city utility bill will be needed for identification.

Trash collection on major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s) will be postponed until the next day following the holiday. TDS will run its usual routes on other holidays.

For information about San Marcos trash collection, call Public Works at 393-8026.
