City of Buda Channel: Buda Area Chamber of Commerce notes

The Buda Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) met Wednesday afternoon, introducing the following new members: Mike Colonnetta with Buda VO AG, Blake Wade with Falcon Storage, Danny Webber of Danny Webber Realty, and Becky Fisher of  Hays High School Band.

In other BACC news: Warren Ketteman, executive director for the Buda Economic Development Corporation (EDC), reported that the Buda Post Office is looking for 3 to 3 1/2 acres of green space to build a new facility. Ketteman added that many businesses have jobs open. Contact EDC for more info … Shelby Whitehead, president of Buda 4-H, announced that the third annual dinner & dance fundraiser will be July 26. Besides the dinner and dancing, there will be a live auction …

Another fundraiser will take place at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center on Aug. 8 at 8 pm.  Tickets are $10 and will benefit the Hays CISD Education Foundation.  The concert is titled “It’s Too Darn Hot” and will feature show tunes presented by Allegro Music School … BACC Business after Hours will be this Thursday 5 -7 p.m. at Great Locations Realty.

Ketteman and BACC President Dick Schneider handed out graduation certificates to the first class of Leadership Buda. Graduates are Kelly Allen, John Church, Courtney Clapper,  Wendy DeVries, Mark Goebler, Sandy Nielsen and Rick Waddell.  Application forms for Leadership Buda 2009 are available from the chamber … T.J. Higginbotham, chairman of the city’s historic commission requested that people sign a petition encouraging the City Council to join the Main Street USA program. The program will call for a person to be hired to work on bringing buildings in the downtown area up to code, writing grant proposals and stimulating continued Buda-fication of downtown …

Ginny Harlow announced that the Buda Fine Arts Committee has a website: www.budafineartsfestival.com … The new Hampton Inn in Buda had its soft opening last week and will be having a ribbon cutting soon.
