Thursday, the Kiwanis of San Marcos held their weekly meeting at Grin’s Restaurant. The group, led by President Pam Cook, hosted speaker Robert B. Evans, Jr., Manager, U.S. Sales and Design of Fountain People, Inc. of San Marcos. The company is located in San Marcos near the new high school.

Evans, a Texas Tech graduate, talked about their high-tech specialized equipment and pride in being a San Marcos business. The company has been here for 21 years and has built some of the most elaborate water fountains in the world.

Fountain People’s projects include water features for the headquarters of major corporations such as Chrysler, J.C. Penney, and Eli Lilly. In addition to domestic projects, Fountain People systems are installed from Abu Dhabi to Hong Kong.  The company recently completed projects for the Museum of Islamic Arts, Disney in China and the United Arab Emirates.

Evans added, “We lead the world in what we do. Our primary competitors are in Canada and the Southeast United States.”

The company has grown from three employees operating out of a single 3,000 square foot building into a multi-divisional operation employing over 100 people with more than 60,000 square feet under-roof at their state-of-the-art manufacturing and design facility located on 10 acres.

Evans closed by saying, ‘There is a good workforce here in San Marcos and we love being here.”

The group also recognized San Marcos Cheerleader Lauren McNair as a special guest at the meeting. The group’s social camping trip this weekend has been canceled due to the high heat in the area and has been rescheduled for early October.
