Weinheimer garners Academic All-SLC First Team selection
FRISCO – Junior outfielder Jetta Weinheimer earned Capital One Academic All-Southland Conference Softball First Team Honors as Texas State placed a league-high five players on the first and second teams, league offices announced Wednesday.
In addition to Weinheimer, the regular season SLC champion Bobcats also placed first baseman Leah Boatright and outfielders Jill Kloesel, Kelsey Cammarata and Kristina Tello on the Academic All-SLC Second Team.
Weinheimer hit .300 on the season with four homeruns and 21 RBIs while maintaining a 3.70 GPA in Recreational Administration. Kloesel received the F.L. McDonald Post-Graduate Scholarship after finishing her undergraduate studies with a perfect 4.0 GPA while Cammarata had a 3.94 GPA in Psychology. Tello currently has a 3.44 GPA in Management and was an All-SLC Second Team pick after leading the Bobcats in runs scored and ranking second on the team in hits.
Northwestern State’s Cari Bruno was named the Student-Athlete of the Year and was one of three Lady Demons on the two teams. Texas-Arlington had the second most selections with four, placing Cara Hulme and Laura Jones on the first team while Amanda Swofford and Katie Jones earned second team honors.
