City of Buda Channel: City seeks gift items for city manager candidates

STAFF REPORT

The Buda City Council has narrowed down its lost of city manager candidates to six, with the final interviews to come at the end of June.

To welcome the candidates, the city staff is asking Buda-area merchants to provide items for a gift basket to be provided for each of the candidates. In an email circulated by the Buda Area Chamber of Commerce, City Secretary Toni Milam requested “a little ‘taste of Buda’ (t-shirt, koozie, notepads, pens, map, magnets, or maybe a welcome bag, or maybe a book you’ve written about Buda etc) that you would be willing to donate to the baskets.”

Said Milam, “We would ask that each candidate (6) be provided with just a little something to welcome them to Buda.” Milam asked that the items be dropped off at city hall no later than June 23.

The candidates are scheduled to arrive on June 27.

The city, which conducted its first council meeting with a voting mayor under a new city charter Tuesday night, has been searching for a new city manager since Robert Camareno resigned in February to take a position with the city of New Braunfels, his hometown.
