May 8, 2008/Fraud Suspect Faces Additional Charges, Bond SetAmber Dawn Rountree, W/F DOB 10-21-71 of Buda, Texas who was arrested by the Hays County Sheriff’s Office on charges of Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information, was magistrated this morning on additional charges.
After securing a search warrant, Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office sifted through evidence and discovered numerous infractions related to fraud and identity theft. Rountree had 15 counts of Forgery of a Financial Instrument pending from yesterday’s arrest. The new evidence discovered allowed Detectives to enhance charges including an additional charge of Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information. The charge is a 2nd degree Felony punishable by a fine up to $10,000.00 and/or 2 years up to 20 years in state jail.
Justice of the Peace JoAnne Prado set bond at $100,000.00 for each of 15 counts of Forgery of a Financial Instruments and 100,000.00 bond for the additional charge of Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information.. The total bond on Rountree is $1,605,000.00. Rountree presently is still in the Hays County Jail.
