May 7, 2008/IDENTITY THEFT SUSPECT ARRESTED AGAIN

On this date Hays County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Amber Dawn Rountree, W/F DOB 10-21-71 of Buda, Texas and charged her with Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information. The charge is a State Jail Felony punishable by a fine up to $10,000.00 and/or 180 days to 2 years in state jail.

Rountree was previously arrested in March 2008 for Identity Theft and released on bond. She was brought to the attention of the Sheriff’s Office by a local merchant who suspected her of attempting to use false identification. Upon her arrest she was found to be in possession of fictitious documents.

Sheriff Allen Bridges states that, “This is a fine example of what can be accomplished through the cooperative efforts of local businesses and merchants with the Sheriff’s Office. Criminals can be apprehended prior to committing further offenses.”

Rountree has also been charged with 15 counts of Forgery of a Financial Instrument and is presently in the Hays County Jail.
