The award is also the eighth career honor for Blake, who led the Bobcats to a series win over the Cowgirls. She pitched 13 straight scoreless innings and threw her eighth shutout while striking out 16 batters in 14 innings. For the season Blake (20-10) leads the conference in wins while also tallying 183 strikeouts in 191.2 innings
Nicholls State’s Kat Harrell was named Hitter of the Week for the second time this year and third time in her career after batting .583 with five runs and three stolen bases. Harrell’s offense also helped secure a spot in the SLC Tournament for the Lady Colonels.
Both players will help lead their teams into the SLC Tournament, which will be May 8-10 and hosted by Texas State. The Bobcats earned the tournament’s top seed after winning the regular season title while Nicholls State will be the No. 6 seed.
