The state’s major newspapers pick up the birth of a baby boy in San Marcos yesterday to a young polygamist sect member in foster care including the Dallas Morning News, San Antonio Express-News and the Houston Chronicle. A quick perusal turns up an Associated Press wire stories in media across the country including CNN, MSNBC, Baltimore Sun, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and Miami Herald. . . . The Austin American-Statesman and News8Austin note that a jury is deliberating the fate of a Dripping Springs father who severely beat and bit three children in what local officials call the worst case of child abuse they’ve seen. Mojica admitted much on the stand Monday but his attorneys want jurors to consider lesser charges. . . . Fort Worth Star-Telegram columnist Bud Kennedy devotes his space to Texas State’s newly opened exhibit on newspaperman Edwin “Bud” Shrake, whom Kennedy calls “the most interesting man in the world.”
