A longtime San Marcos business leader finalized zoning clearance this week to build a restaurant and automobile museum on Hunter Road at Stagecoach Trail.
Richard L. Burdick, who decades ago moved Thermon Manufacturing to San Marcos from Houston, secured a rezoning of part of 5.44 acres adjoining the existing Stagecoach Professional Center.
A founder of the Great American Race Association, Burdick has an extensive collection of classic cars, many of them kept at the non-profit Central Texas Museum of Automotive History he started in Rosanky. The collection includes a 1901 Holsman “horseless carriage” and an extremely rare 1911 Napier Garden Car.
The planning and zoning commission previously approved a replatting that combined what was previously two lots and rezoning a portion of the property from community commercial to general commercial designation.
