The San Marcos Police Department’s downtown patrol unit investigated a hit and run accident around 6:20 p.m. on Monday.
Police responded to a collision that occurred at University and N. LBJ where one of the vehicles fled the scene. While attempting to flee, the offender struck another vehicle and failed to stop.
About 30 minutes later, 18-year-old Canian Martin called police from his residence. He admitted to the accidents and fleeing the scene.
“He said he didn’t have a drivers license or insurance. He also said his mother didn’t know he had taken the vehicle,” said Sgt. Dave Waugh, SMPD.
Martin was arrested for failure to stop and identify at the scene of the accident.Email | Print
