‘Cats win fifth straight SLC match
SAN MARCOS – With the match knotted at 3-3, all eyes turned to the No. 4 singles match between Texas State’s LainyChafitz and Nicholls State’s Sanja Stanojcic. After splitting the first two games by 7-5 scores, Chafitz came alive with a 6-1 game three win to clinch a 4-3 match win for the Bobcats (10-8, 7-2 SLC) over the Lady Colonels (12-7, 3-6 SLC).
Nicholls State opened by taking the double’s point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. The Lady Colonels got another point with Florina Nosca’s 6-2, 6-3 win over Andrea Giraldo in the top singles match, but Texas State bounced back.
Rabea Hartmann continued her hot streak with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Anne-Claire Murier at No. 2 singles. Ashley Ellis added another straight set win at No. 3, winning 6-4, 6-3 over Natalia Zomora.

That set the stage for Chafitz, who rebounded from her second set loss to control momentum for the deciding third set, winning 6-1.
Texas State will look to continue its winning streak against a tough opponent, as the Bobcats take on Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday at 10 a.m. The Lions entered the weekend 16-2 overall and an undefeated 7-0 in SLC play.Email | Print
