Ron Oswalt, Director of Sales for, spoke to the San Marcos Sunrise Club at their weekly meeting on Tuesday, April 8, at 7:00 am.

Oswalt spoke to the club about the new online news source for forty minutes and took questions from the members. Newstreamz was founded by Scott Gregson, a local businessman and entreprenuer, and launched on January 1, 2008 with the goal of providing up-to-date news about San Marcos and Hays County. At the beginning of March, Chief Operating Officer, Chris Doelle was brought in to take the business to the next level. His first move was to invite Oswalt on board, as the two have worked together previously with great success.

Newstreamz is already registering over 412,000 hits per month, and readership is growing weekly. Being the only locally owned media outlet in San Marcos, Oswalt stressed how much Newstreamz wants to reflect our community.

In his words, “This is your news. We want you to let us know what your groups are doing, the special events you are sponsoring, and the activities that you have planned.”

Oswalt informed the group that Newstreamz will list events on the site free of charge, and noted that all non-profits, including churches, receive a 50% discount on advertisments.

Sunrise members were encouraged to check out the paper and respond to the stories .

The San Marcos Sunrise Club meets every Tuesday (excepting some holidays) at 7:00 am in The Root Cellar on LBJ Street in San Marcos.
