Southland Conference Announces Softball Players Of The Week
FRISCO, Texas – After helping their teams to SLC series sweeps over the weekend, UT Arlington’s Amanda Swofford and Texas State’s Ragan Blake were voted this week’s Southland Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. For Swofford, it is her second career honor, as she first garnered the award on April 9, 2007, while Blake wins her second-straight honor and seventh of her career.
Hitter Of The Week:
Amanda Swofford, UT Arlington – Sr., SS, Buda, Texas
Swofford led UTA to a perfect 5-0 record this week with a two-game sweep of Prairie View A&M and a three-game Southland Conference sweep of McNeese State. She hit safely in all five games and batted .563 (9-for-16) with three homers and eight RBIs. The senior shortstop went deep twice in the second game of the series against the Cowgirls, including a fifth-inning grand slam. Swofford is hitting .349 on the season with a team-best 22 RBI, 37 hits and nine home runs.

Pitcher Of The Week:
Ragan Blake, Texas State – Sr., P, Houston, Texas
Blake led the Bobcats to two of its three wins against the Roadrunners, first pitching a complete game with seven strikeouts in a 5-1 win, allowing just three hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. In the series finale, Blake held the UTSA offense to two hits in a 4-0 shutout win, striking out five. For the week, Blake posted a 2-0 record with a 0.50 ERA and 12 strikeouts. So far this season, Blake is 12-8 with a 2.50 ERA and 128 strikeouts.
