Texas State Women’s Tennis Team Beats UTSA 5-2 Sunday
SAN ANTONIO – The Texas State women’s tennis team won its fifth straight Southland Conference match with a 5-2 victory at UTSA Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.
Texas State improves to 9-8 overall this season and owns a 6-2 record in the Southland Conference standings after beating UTSA, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi yesterday, Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin last weekend. The Bobcats also beat McNeese State on Mar. 9.
The Bobcats won four of the six singles matches Sunday against the Roadrunners after beginning the day winning the doubles point for a 1-0 lead in the match.
Rabea Hartmann and Ali Guilda won their No. 2 and No. 5 matches, respectively. Ashley Ellis sealed the victory with a straight set 7-5, 7-5 victory over Monika Drabkova at the No. 3 spot. Karen Scida of UTSA won the top singles match 6-4, 7-6 over Texas State Adrea Giraldo.
The Bobcats play host to Nicholls State next Saturday and Southeastern Louisiana on April 13. Both matches begin at 10:00 a.m.Email | Print
