Melissa Millecam has been promoted to Director of Communications for the City of San Marcos, Interim City Manager Collette Jamison has announced.
A former journalist, Millecam has worked for the City of San Marcos since 1985 as public information officer and communications manager.
“Melissa is a highly motivated, very creative person,” said Jamison. “She is an important link in our communications with our citizens.”
Millecam oversees media relations, public information, emergency communications, photography, the city’s cable television channels, and special publications.
Millecam also provides guidance for the City’s web site and chairs the editorial board for the bi-monthly employee newsletter. She writes and produces the City’s annual report, City Exchange quarterly newsletter, and special video programs.
City publications including the annual report, on-line newsletters, and media releases have won state and national awards. Last year she wrote and directed Rio Vista Transformed, a 30 minute documentary about the rebuilding of a collapsing dam into a whitewater park.
Before joining the City of San Marcos, Millecam was editor of the Hays County Citizen and later worked at the Texas Legislature. She is married to Aart Millecam and they are the parents of two children, Kris Millecam of Istanbul, Turkey, and Josh Millecam of San Marcos.Email | Print
