Final nonconference home series starts Friday at 6 p.m.
SAN MARCOS – Fresh off a 5-2 win over No. 18 Baylor, the Texas State softball team looks to extend its winning ways with a three game series against New Mexico beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
Game two of the series will start at 6 p.m. Saturday before the rubber match on Sunday at noon concludes a rare three-day series for the Bobcats.
Texas State (21-11) currently leads the Southland Conference and has posted an 8-2 record at Bobcat Field. McKenzie Baack and Ryan Kos have paced the offense recently, with Baack hitting a team-high .329 on the season. She hit a solo homer in Tuesday’s win and has hit safely in 12 of her last 13 games.
Kos leads the ‘Cats with 24 RBIs and has 11 extra-base hits on the year. Alex Newton also helps anchor the Texas State lineup, batting .320 overall and .417 at home.
In the circle, Katie Garnett ranks among the Southland Conference leaders in wins with a 10-3 record and has a 2.04 ERA. Ragan Blake has won eight of her last 10 decisions while striking out 109 batters 110.2 innings.
Gabriella Parra leads the Lobos (14-10) on their Texas trip that also includes a game against UTSA before the series against Texas State. Parra is hitting .439 with four home runs and 22 RBIs. Lindsey Elcess also bats over .400, hitting at a .406 clip while leading New Mexico in home runs with eight.
Kelly Ninemire anchors the pitching staff with a 9-7 record and 3.20 ERA. Ninemire has started 18 of the Lobos’ 24 games and has 77 strikeouts in 89.2 innings.Email | Print
