Fisher and Miller Set the Pace at State Speaking Competitions

Two San Marcos High School students recently competed at the Texas Forensic Association’s state competition held in Coppell, Texas: Milam Miller and David Fisher. According to SMHS Speech & Debate Coach Lacye Odam, both students performed exceptionally well against some of the best extemporaneous speakers in the state.

“Milam did not advance to finals, but he landed among the top 50 domestic extemporaneous speakers in the state,” Odam said. “David advanced to quarter-finals and is among the top 20 foreign extemporaneous speakers in the state.”

Both men are preparing for the upcoming UIL academic finals and for the National Forensic League competitions.

On March 8, 2008, the UIL Academic Team had continued success. The following students placed:

Lincoln Douglas Debate
