A 19-year-old man died near Dripping Springs yesterday afternoon when he was thrown from the rooftop of a car driven by a 20-year-old friend. A second 19-year-old man is in critical condition.

The vehicle’s driver, Andres Lloyd Rojas, 20, is charged with manslaughter, a second degree felony. The dead man’s and injured man’s names are not being released pending notification of their relatives.

The accident happened about 4:30 p.m. on Hidden Creek Drive in a private, gated community off U.S. 290. The men were thrown into large decorative rocks on the road’s shoulder. The Henly Fire Department, Henly Fire Rescue, North Hays EMS and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

Rojas is being held on a $100,000 bond. All of the people involved are from San Antonio.
