An investor plans to build a distribution and warehouse facility on Clovis Barker Drive with a partial property tax abatement agreement San Marcos city council members are expected to consider this week.
Scheduled to be completed in March 2009, the facility will total 148,900 square feet between two buildings on about 30 acres near where leaders hope the Wide-Lite Corp factory will anchor an industrial row. The distribution and warehouse project is expected to cost about $5.5 million, although the document does not state if that is for the facilities alone or includes the land purchase price.
Under the pending development incentives agreement between the city and a Clovis Barker Business Park L.P., the city will forgive 50 percent of the facility’s appraised value in 2009 and 2010 and 25 percent in 2011-2013. In addition, the city will waive zoning and permitting fees except development impact fees.
