Workshop planned on federal grant money

The city of San Marcos will hold a stakeholder’s workshop to receive citizen input on the proposed use of $514,869 in Community Development Block Grant funds for program year 2008 on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 6 p.m. in the Activity Room of Sunrise Village I, 500 Parker Drive.

The City’s 2008 allocation from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will be $514,869.00. Projects funded through the CDBG program must meet a national objective and one of the priority needs identified in the 2005-2009 Consolidated Plan.

These priorities are housing; economic development for job creation; and public facilities. CDBG funds are used to benefit the city’s low to moderate income residents.
