The wet weather is not enough to eliminate the Red Flag Warnings. There is still a burn ban issued for most Texas counties including Hays.

As of March 10, the Texas Forrest Service has issued Hays County a disaster declaration. Other Texas counties have also been issued the declaration. Fire officials say people commonly assume the fire danger is over after extended rainfall but that it is not necessarily so.

Red Flag Warnings are issued when wind is mixed with dry weather conditions. The United States National Weather Service uses the warnings to tell area firefighters and land agencies that the conditions are ideal for brush fire ignition.
