Texas State University’s Fine Arts and Communication department presents Eddie Frierson’s acclaimed one-man show Matty: An Evening with Christy Mathewson at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19 in the LBJ Student Center Teaching Theatre on campus.
The show is part of the fine arts and communication Encore Series’ new Solo Artist Series.
Using baseball as a backdrop, Mathewson draws his experiences in the Big Leagues as a metaphor for life. He raises many questions–some are answered, some aren’t, but according to Mathewson, “That’s the way life is. You can sum it up with the title of the Cohan song, Life’s A Very Funny Proposition After All.”
The play isn’t a conventional one. Rather, it’s the memoir of a great American life, as it was experienced, by the man who experienced it.
Admission is $10 for the general public and $5 for students with a Texas State ID. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.encoreseries.txstate.edu. For more information, call (512) 245-3501Email | Print
