Diamond Line collects honors en route to Dallas competition

By IRIS CAMPBELL

The San Marcos High School Diamond Line competed at the H.T.E. Dance Competition in Austin on February 23, 2008, where they earned 1st place honors in all of their team routines. They were awarded the 1st place title in the Large Team Category, and they were the top scoring team of the entire contest (over 17 teams).

This resulted in the Diamond Line receiving the Grand Champion title. The SMHS officer line won 1st place in the officer division and earned Grand Champion honors, competing with 13 other officer lines, according to Director Holly Boyer. The Diamond Line also competed with eight other large dance teams at Texas State University on March 1.

Once again, they received 1st place honors for their kick, jazz, pom and lyrical dances and were again awarded 1st place in the Large Team Category. The officers took 3rd place out of seven other officer lines competing.

“The team has worked so hard this season,” says Boyer, “and they have their final competition in Dallas this coming weekend. We are aiming for a 1st place title again this weekend.”
