Bobcats finish in 10th place as a team
CORPUS CHRISTI – Texas State freshman golfer Caitlin Bliss finished in third place at the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Spring Classic after she fired a three-round score of 231 on the par 72-6,085-yard course at the Corpus Christi Country Club.
Lamar’s Therese Nilsson edged her teammate Channing Norton in a playoff for the individual championship after they finished three shots ahead of Bliss. Jennifer Herrman of McNeese State and Pamela Ontiveros of Oral Roberts tied for fourth place with a score of 232 to round out the top five players.
Lamar finished the tournament as the team champion with a three-day score of 934 after the Cardinals fired a 318 in the final round. Oral Roberts finished in second place, three shots back, and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi tied UTSA for fourth place with team scores of 950.
McNeese State and Sam Houston State shot team scores of 955 to tie for fifth place, while North Texas finished in seventh place with a score of 958. Toledo finished in eighth place with a 960 total and Texas-Pan American posted a ninth-place total of 962.
Texas State continues their spring schedule on the top two individual players at the Pinehurst Challenge on March 9-11.
